Jiji PressTOKYO (Jiji Press) — A panel of Tokyo’s Metropolitan Police Department came up with a report on Wednesday calling for legal regulations on the so-called JK business, in which high school girls offer such services as massage and dating.

Based on the report, submitted to Yukio Mogaki, head of the department’s Community Safety Bureau, the MPD will move forward with a plan to set up an ordinance to regulate the JK business. JK is derived from joshi kosei, or high school girls.

According to the MPD, the number of JK business outlets in Tokyo stood at 174 as of the end of January, up 42 from the end of June last year. In the JK business, illegal sexual services are sometimes offered secretly and some girls fall victim to sexual crimes.
