Osaka Pref. man arrested for allegedly raping girl, 12, he met on messaging app

OSAKA — A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping a first-year junior high school student here by the Shijonawate Police Station on Dec. 5, it has been learned.

Suspect Kazuki Irie was arrested on suspicion of raping the then 12-year-old girl inside of a car in the parking lot of a park in Osaka Prefecture at the beginning of June this year. The suspect has admitted to the allegations.

According to sources, Irie met the girl through the free messaging application Line via a mutual friend. He then threatened her by saying things like, “If you don’t listen to me, I’ll come after you,” and requested she take a nude photo of herself and send it to him. He reportedly then used the threat of releasing the photo to force her to meet him.

The Shijonawate Police Station had arrested Irie in July of this year on suspicion of rape and other charges with a different junior high school girl. During the investigation of that allegation, police discovered the suspected rape of the other girl.

Irie had multiple indecent photos of women saved on his smartphone. While investigating how the suspect came into possession of the photos, police also plan to look into if he sent the photos to acquaintances in violation of the Act on Regulation and Punishment of Acts Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children for provision of the photos.
