Osaka cop arrested in attack on teen girl
KOBE–An Osaka prefectural police officer was arrested Monday on suspicion of sexually molesting a 16-year-old high school girl he met through the Internet.
According to the Hyogo prefectural police, 24-year-old Tatsuya Tsuruoka of Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, is suspected of conducting an obscene act on the girl on April 22 at a hotel in Chuo Ward, Kobe. Police believe he did so despite knowing the girl, a second-year high school student, was younger than 18, a violation of a prefectural ordinance on juvenile welfare.
Tsuruoka is also suspected of demanding the girl e-mail a naked picture of herself to him. He allegedly threatened to sell footage taken on his smartphone of his molesting the girl if she did not send the picture.
Tsuruoka, a policeman at the Osaka prefectural police’s Kashiwara Police Station, has admitted the allegations, the Hyogo prefectural police said.
The Hyogo prefectural police said they would also question Tsuruoka on suspicion of violating the Law on Punishment of Activities Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.
On Monday, police searched Tsuruoka’s home and his locker at the police station. They seized five items, including a cell phone.
