First arrest made over computer graphics child pornography
A man has been arrested for recreating banned child pornography photos with computer graphics (CG), the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced on July 11, in its first arrest for CG child pornography.
Police arrested Akashi Takahashi, 52, of Gifu, on suspicion of creating and supplying child pornography. They say that in December 2009 he created several images including child porn pictures, which he sold over the Internet. Police believe that from August 2008 through April 2013, he received over 2 million yen for his images.
Takahashi has admitted to the allegations, but has testified, “I thought that because CG pictures are not photos, I might get away with it.” The photos he recreated are from a collection sold in the 1980s that was banned but achieved a “legendary” status amongst some circles.
